Current and Future Projects:

The "Riverwalk"

Everyone in Noel knows what a unique treasure we have in the Bluffs by the river. There is no place else in the country quite like it!
And, most everyone knows that the condition of the downtown bluffs area is "far from ideal."
Noel residents and tourists who walk between the bridges put their safety at risk (especially the young ones!) because there is no other way to walk from the Downtown area to North Noel.
Everyone we've talked with agrees: A beautiful "Riverwalk" (sidewalk/boardwalk) that blends in harmoniously with the area, is a long-needed answer to the problem.

Main Street Park

proposed park overviewproposed park building layoutIn the new business of the Noel Betterment Association's regular monthly meeting in December, our organization decided to pursue a new park project. The property for which the park is being planned is at the intersection of Main and Gratz, otherwise known as Carl's Cafe'. The idea we are working with at this time is to tear down the condemned buildings on the property and then create the park, which will include a bandstand and two long, covered pavilions flanking each side of a grassy area. This should provide a great shelter for all sorts of gatherings, where people can set up lawnchairs or blankets on the grassy area in front of the stage, and in situations where the weather doesn't co-operate, audiences can still huddle under the pavillions and continue to enjoy the presentation.
Also proposed is a set of three attractive flowerboxs/statues/displays near the Main street frontage of the park, as well as other improvements.

We are dedicating the bandstand to the memory of one of Noel's most beloved friends, Gerald Williams, who passed away in 2011.

In order to acquire the property from its current owner, the Betterment Association will have to raise $26,000 in order to purchase the property.
(Nearly this entire amount has been pledged by corporate sponsors already!
)
We are still a couple thousand short of the total... Any donations you, or your business, can make would be greatly appreciated!
Donations can be dropped off at a meeting, or at the Arvest Bank in Noel. Please be sure to specify on your check that the donations are for the PARK FUND. (If for any reason the park project folds, your donation will be returned to you.)

Anyone interested in helping or supporting this project is encouraged to come to any of the regularly scheduled third Thursday monthly meetings of the Betterment Association, or directly contact the Park Committee Chairman: Mayor James Carroll at City Hall.
